Spills response outside US? Contact information for members of the media

When oil spills impacting wildlife occur outside of California, IBRRC partners with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) as part of their Global Emergency Relief Team. IFAW staff and volunteers lead worldwide emergency relief efforts to rescue and rehabilitate the victims of disasters, including oil spills, even when the responsible party is unknown.

Please do not call IBRRC bird center's for information about the spill.

Our director, Jay Holcomb, has over thirty years of experience, at over 150 spills involving wildlife, and is considered a world renowned expert in this field. During spills, interviews with Jay Holcomb are difficult but not impossible.

The OWCN is sponsored by OSPR from interest earned on the state's Oil Spill Response Trust Fund, and its management is a collaborative program with the Wildlife Health Center located in the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
