Because of IBRRC's
expertise in seabird care, the clinic receives birds from
other rehabilitation centers who don't have the caging,
pools or time needed to provide the specialized care aquatic
birds require.
We also receive calls from veterinary offices,
animal shelters and citizens who have a bird but don't have
the ability to transport it. That's when we call our Wings
on Wheels volunteers. Transporters, like ambulance drivers,
are very important. Just like humans in a medical crisis,
time is of the essence for birds as well. We also need volunteers
who are willing and able to rescue birds in distress.
If your commute takes you near where the 80
and 680 meet, why drive alone? Bring a feathered friend!
Time requirement is approximately three hours per week or
as needed. If you can provide this valuable service, please contact us by e-mail
and tell us what area
you want to cover. Spring and summer are our busiest times
and when we need the most transporters.
We need transporters who pick up birds from
the following areas and bring them to our clinic in Cordelia
(Solano County):
Alameda/Berkeley/Hayward
Contra Costa County
Marin
San Francisco
Napa County
Sacramento, Davis and areas north and south
Santa Rosa
Monterey
Palo Alto
